2011 True Thrill Award Recipient: Joe McGinniss
“The first book Joe McGinniss wrote was The Selling of the President (1968), which revealed for the first time how ad agencies sell politicians to voters. I was talking to someone today about The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro and I said, McGinniss is such a compelling writer if he wrote about driving to the grocery store, I would be looking forward with eager anticipation to see what he would buy. 😀

Ah, The Selling Of The President! I was reading that when I was 12 years old! I was always a “multitasker” and carried around & read Bridey Murphy at the same time. My Father’s conservative side of the family tried to stop me…to no avail. They said “Such a strange troubled child she is”. (?) I loved that! Those 2 books, worn bindings and all, stay with me until 2004 and were washed away with Hurricane Ivan. I found your cover to “President” in the muck. I do need to re-order that book from Amazon! (and yes, I have read all of your other books as well)

I read Fatal vision years ago but am again re-reading it to get in synch for “the rogue”! I read “going to extremes” before I went to Alaska in “09 and it really gave me a feel for Alaska. I am looking forward to “The rogue” and I know you will win awards for it.

I have pre-ordered your book and meanwhile reading Fatal vision: Verdict: Guilty! From the beginning it is obvious he is guilty. I hear he is trying to use DNA to get out. good luck on that. Obviously he has not kept up on DNA evidence and CSI? Just wearing surgical gloves especially in 1970 not going to cut it. Same with Sarah!
Lots more technology to expose lies & crimes. Whether physical or internet|email or cyber crimes, like the c4p hacking Crivella West…they can track it and it has BEEN tracked before from other blogs to SOA IT dept.

On Sunday, the NJ Star Ledger printed about 3 pages, including the first page on a group of bodies found in Long Island. Once prostitutes get into that life, it is hard to get out. These girls seem to have been free lancers and vanished without a trace until, one girl vanished and in looking for her body all the rest were uncovered in the search.
The oldest profession in the world.
If Todd Palin is actually involved in this type of scheme, (and it sounds huge) then so is Sarah, family values Palin.
The accusation is out there in the open, then what? Does it go under the rug with all the rest of the Palin dirt?
Or will the media run with it and investigate?

That’s great news. Seems you should have had it a long time ago, but the timing actually is good considering all that’s been going on currently in this country and the palin dirtiness. This brings LIGHT to us and the coming book so many of us are eagerly awaiting.

Lilly lily, there used to be a commenter who visited Palingates and Gryphen’s blog, who made cryptic comments indicating that Todd was involved in a lot of crime. At one point the commenter even gave a name of a murder victim, Kimberly Kay Borkowski, and made dark hints. I’m sorry I can’t remember the screen name of the commenter. But I do remember that this was almost a full year ago. And in the comments were statements that these things are well known in Alaska.
It’s easy to believe that people who live there, who know they will be at risk if they discuss the Palins, will try to avoid discussing them.
Mr. McGinniss, I’d like to add my cheers about the award. The only one of your books I’ve read is the soccer story. It was a delightful story, of course. And it actually answered some of the questions that have haunted me about my mother’s family: they were from Abruzzi, the area called L’Aquila. Your observations about the people of Castel di Sangro shed some light on my ancestors. I’m really looking forward to reading what you observed in Alaska.
An huge amount of scuttlebut about the Palins sex lives was put out on the blogs, but little in way of proof. People talked, but backed away or simply didn’t continue talking once they unloaded.
Someone on one of the blogs is talking about a young man called Josh, and even where he worked. Hints are always tossed in the mix. How much is misinformation.
I have been thinking over this latest information Shailey Tripp put out on her blog. If it is true the Palins are even thuggier than I ever imagined. Are there mafiosa in Anchorage? Drugs and prostitutes go hand in hand.
I just read Julia O’Malley who wrote an article last year on a reformed prostitute. Drugs and drug use and the need of prostitues to drug themselves. A vicious circle. Alaska certainly is rife with drug use.
Watergate was essentially about a prostitution with call girls and politicians. The breakin was to bug the phones of the democratic horn dogs.. That is simple enough. Power, money and Sex are buddies.
But this sounds deeper and more nefarious . Something this insidious with ties to CLERGY?
Tripp and her interlude with Todd and then being handed out like jelly beans strikes me as authentic. Women do get caught in this slipperly slope of paid sex. Do it once and you have sealed your fate. And most don’t make much in the end.
She was used.

Let’s be painfully honest. How is Sarah going to explain, Bristol, living with 2 young men, along with her young child to film a reality show? Those aren’t true Christian values.

Joe, this is why I can’t wait for this new book to drop in september. I’ve read half of your works, and your breadth of talent, your knack for leaving no stone unturned in your research, and your remarkable talent in the true crime genre is head and shoulders above the rest.
When I heard you had moved to Wasilla, next door to the subject of your next book, my heart actually skipped a beat. Seeing the subject’s sheer vindictive and nasty nature, the comments and lewd projections she heaped on you were proof that even she knew you’d be the only one to peel the onion of lies we know as the subject, Sarah Louise Heath Palin.
I wish I could be there to see you get the award. I hope your acceptance speech is taped so we all can share in your humble acceptance of this well deserved recognition.
